Lord Dunstan Godwin is the last remaining unmarried Godwin man, and as such, he's inherited Godwin Castle. And right from the start, one bad thing after another has happened to him. He is resigned to his fate, and to the ghosts of his past tormenting him in the present.

But he didn't expect the castle's enigmatic housekeeper to become his ally and his champion.

Carys Weatherby has been housekeeper at Godwin Castle ever since the death of her mother, who was housekeeper before her, and her mother before her, and her mother before her. In fact, Carys is part of a long line of women who have taken care of the castle…stretching all the way back to when the curse was placed. She knows more about castles and curses than most of the Godwin family, and she'd willing to do whatever it takes to protect her best friend, Dunstan.

But as the unfortunate events surrounding Godwin Castle take on a suspicious nature, Dunstan and Carys's feelings for each other grow. The family has definitely seen their attraction and is pushing them together, but is one of them causing accidents and tumult for nefarious reasons? What happens when a sudden fire reveals mysteries that have been locked in the castle walls for centuries?
