A trip around the world‪.‬

The author narrates his experiences during his travels from Cincinnati to Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Ceylon, India, Arabia, Palestine, Greece and other places. His accounts were originally published in letters to Cincinnati's two daily newspapers during his trip and later published in a book with additional details on incidents, events and facts that had earlier been omitted. He claims that the historical and statistical information was obtained from the most reliable sources and that the illustrations were carefully chosen from over 800 original pictures gathered during the voyage and are coloured true to nature. Five illustrations are on Singapore.
