“And Ruth Clung to Her‪”‬

Each trimester at The Idea School, our students strive to bring together their hearts, minds and hands in order to connect deeply with their Judaism, their community and their interests. This trimester, we studied The Book of Ruth. Often guided by the tremendous insights and articles of Dr. Yael Ziegler, we explored the complicated time period of the Judges, the ambiguous character of Naomi, the noble kindness of Ruth and the restorative generosity of Boaz. After completing our study of Megillat Ruth, each student was assigned one of Dr. Ziegler’s articles to briefly summarize. You can find those summaries in the sections that follow. 


In addition to engaging thoughtfully with the text, we experimented with various artistic techniques in order to merge together the concepts of illustration and interpretation. You can find student illustrations and artist messages at the conclusion of each chapter.
