Cannonading of the French Fleet in Newport, R.I.: Vol. 1

This is the journal and account of Mrs. Mary Almy, kept for her husband, Captain Benjamin Almy, during the cannonading of the French Fleet in July and August of 1778. Newport was occupied by the British Army from the fall of 1776 through October 1779.
