It is ninety-one degrees and it is nine fifty-nine p.m. the news will be on in a minute, the ten o'clock news comes on the newscaster begins rattling off all the hot topics for the day a Korean missile test, Russian aircraft coming within a few feet of an American fighter jet, the Republicans are trying to pass a bill and admit that they cannot expect even one vote from the Democratic Party, the meteorologist is talking about a tornado in Arkansas flash floods in California, an earthquake in Oklahoma.
On the internet you can read about all sorts of things that would scare the daylights out of you like concentration camps that are being set up to house the homeless and unemployed, a government controlled machine that can affect the weather, fracking a method used by the oil companies that supposedly causes earthquakes government controlled spyware that is installed within typical appliances purchased at retail outlets and so many other things I could not name them all.
On television you here our president talk about fake news, about the Democratic party being aligned with the major news organizations to spread inaccurate propaganda like reports to try to smear the president and the Republican Party as a whole, you hear the Democratic candidate who lost to the Republican candidate state such things as voter fraud and Russian meddling in the election process.
You see commercials on television advertising survival food with a supposedly twenty-year shelf life, you hear about supposed upcoming cuts in Medicare and Medicaid as well as Social Security payments, the things that the poor and older retired people depend upon for financial stability.
It is June first 2020, the current president his making his bid for reelection in the upcoming years we are watching television when suddenly EBS flashed across the screen the automated voice saying, "This is not a test, standby for official information, repeat this is not a test."
The EBS insignia covered the entirety of the television screen and there was a audible attention signal, we turned the volume down as the attention signal was annoying my wife and I glued to the television screen awaiting official information on what this emergency entailed.
An official soon was visible standing in front of a backdrop that read, "White House," we turned up the volume just in time to hear the representative began speaking saying, "The defense agency at NORAD has detected a missile launch emanating from a base in North Korea, we are checking its trajectory and at present velocity and course this missile will make impact near the California coastline it is not yet confirmed whether or not this intercontinental ballistic missile has a nuclear tip as California residents if you hear the air raid sirens you need realize that this is not a test and that you need to immediately make your way to the nearest fallout shelter.
