When pro surfer Jake Weston takes a fatal wipeout at the Kerris Bay Surf Festival, everyone sees a tragedy. Skye knows water. She sees something else entirely.

Her father, DCI Dan Maddox, tells her to stay out of it. She doesn't, which surprises neither of them.

While Dan handles the official investigation, Skye assembles the kind of team that makes real detectives nervous: Jess, the best barista in Kerris Bay, a local blogger who treats other people's secrets as a personal challenge, and a tech genius from Gadget Galaxy who is considerably more comfortable with drones than he is with people.
