This book draws from the author’s experiences as a parent, as well as her years of practice as a speech-language pathologist. It includes a number of short essays that offer insight into her son and people like him who have been severely affected by their autism. The book is not meant to be a memoir or tell his life story nor is it meant to be a how to book. Rather, it is an attempt to capture moments that illustrate her son’s life. The book is written with an eye to seeing the humor in many situations, but it explores the challenges of autism as well. It also provides basic information for those are not necessarily looking to gain clinical knowledge but who still want to know more about autism.
