Kara's ship spent over a century reaching its new world, hauling thousands of colonists as DNA samples and digital consciousness. She woke up to learn the ship's artificial wombs had been sabotaged shortly after the ship had passed the point of no return. The AI told her it had spent the rest of the voyage devising a workaround for the lack of artificial wombs.

But she wasn't going to like it.
