Byline: Khuram Alia, Asma Iqbala, Muhammad Raza Ahmada, Yasir Jamila and Muhammad Adnan Iqbalb ABSTRACT: A box-type low cost, environment friendly, solar oven was constructed and tested alongwith the plane reflector mirrors. Experiments were performed under unloaded conditions without and with one, two, and three plane reflector mirrors. Simple plane mirrors were used for their cost effectiveness and availability in the local markets. The plane reflector mirrors concentrate the additional radiation on the aperture area and resultantly increase the thermal energy output of the solar oven. Depending upon number of reflectors, this oven is found to be efficient for cooking different kinds of food, with an overall base temperature range 92-126degC. Different parameters like ambient, inner space and base temperatures were recorded with the help of thermometer. Graphical representations illustrate the thermal behavior of oven without and with one, two, and three plane reflector mirrors.
