Introduction Adequate nursing staffing is critical to the delivery of quality patient care. Yet, we are again in the midst of a nursing shortage. The American Nephrology Nurses' Association (ANNA) (2007) contends that patients will be negatively impacted unless decisive action is taken to address both current and future nursing shortages. What, then, can be done to increase the recruitment and retention of nephrology nurses?
