Publisher Description
Abstract: This paper gives a short overview of the possibility of applying the AI (Artificial Intelligence) methodology in lexicography using the Croatian Encyclopaedic Dictionary as an example. Tools and methods, originally developed for other NLP (Natural Language Processing) purposes, were modified in order to find the words from definitions which are missing on the entry side of the Croatian Encyclopaedic Dictionary. Finally, the paper proposes a possible further development of the methodology presented here in order to meet the closure criteria as a major lexicographic demand on every dictionary. Key words: artificial intelligence, closure criteria, lexicography, lexicology.
