Bittersweet Miracle

A true story, this book takes you into the personal lives of one familys battle against a disease that claims the lives of so many people in our world today. This disease is diabetes. The story takes place in the years 1994 to 1996. A young woman awakens one morning haunted by a dream she had. She believes her mother is in danger. Later that day, she is told by the police hundreds of miles away that her mother, following an accident, has been hospitalized. In this hospital, her mother is told that she has a disease called diabetes and has been suffering from the disease for better than ten years. In that time, the disease had gone untreated, and as a result of this, her mothers life hangs in the balance. Her mother battles the disease for about a year, and after being in and out of hospitals and being subjected to a battery of tests, the doctors find themselves at a loss insofar as their treatment of her goes. As a result, they end up misdiagnosing her condition. The young woman and her common-law husband then take it upon themselves to try and save her life.Their story is touching, real, and inspiring. It is filled with highs and lows, victories and defeats.
