Fidelity is the principle that refers to truthfulness, i.e., faithfulness to something or to someone to which one has bound him/herself by a pledge or a promise. One for whom fidelity (faithfulness) is important will give his/her word and, in spite of temptation or the opportunity for betrayal, can be counted upon to honor his/her commitment.

Fidelity to God shows itself through our demonstrating a fondness for Him. God becomes the object of our adoration. Nothing else in the world is more important to us than God. The liking we have for God is different from the fondness we have for anything else. We hold God dear. We cherish Him. In short, we love God with all our heart, soul, and strength. We care for Him unlike we care for anything or anyone else.
