Gallery of Antiquities

Full-color images accompany this collection of Egyptian antiquities found in the holdings of the British Museum in the mid-1800s. The first part of the work concerns the mythology of the ancient Egyptians. Works from the museum collection that illustrate particular figures are presented along with explanatory text that translates inscriptions and explains the history of Egyptian beliefs. The second part of the book deals with the history of the ancient Egyptian people, and contains monuments from the reigns of various monarchs and descriptions of the arts and crafts associated with each period.
