The first chapter of the book is about myths or lies that people believe about productivity. The first myth is that everything matters equally. According to the authors, that is not true. The truth about this is that many of the activities that we participate in are often unconnected with productivity, because they do not matter as much as other activities. For example, if a person has To-Do list, it can give the person a feeling of accomplishment when the list is completed. But if that list is full of unimportant things, completing the list will not actually make the person productive.
That is where the difference between achievers and non-achievers is. While non-achievers do everything they can think of and everything that they believe is important, achievers use a different tactic. Achievers have a specific goal in front of them. They have a clear sense of priority when it comes to what they want to do and where they want to be. So, instead of having a mile long To-Do list, achievers instead focus on a small list of things that they absolutely need to get done. By focusing on true priorities, and always working toward a goal, they become the achievers.
After this, the authors use the example of the 19th century Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto and his famous 80/20 Principle. According to his calculations, eighty percent of the Italian land was owned by twenty percent of people.
