Inspired by real events and characters, the novel is a legal crime thriller set in high summer of New York City, August 2008. Obama is set to get elected. The world economy is poised for freefall. Isobel Li, one-time law school idealist facing student debt and looming marriage to a helluva sweet guy, flees with packed bags and blank passport to the Empire State. The plan: join the UN, save the world, grace an urban billboard near you, etc, etc. Three months later she’s working PR, a professional apologist spinning stories and truths for big tobacco/oil/pharma. A chance meeting with an old friend turned investment banker, a few drinks, bad jokes and wild gambles later… and suddenly, she has a story worth breaking.
