KARINA JØNSON

Karina Jønson is a true photographer of the 21st century, combining both classic artistic techniques with a vision of modernity and new forms of light usage. Her photography catches the beams of sunlight as they enter the room, quietly and discreetly picking up the specks in the air. She takes time in bringing out colours otherwise unknown to the eyes. Creating an atmosphere of effervescent light, that remains in your mind long after you have parted from the photo. She is a master of contrasting and highlighting the contours of the images she takes. Nothing remains but the subject; allowing a crisp, clean, unaltered version of the lines in the corners and edges that make up the faces, the hands, the simplicity of bone and skin, fabric and drape. With a magnificent instinct of when darkness and light should dance within the context of contrast, and a notion of what true authenticity represents, Karina is knowledgeable of when things should be left unchanged, and when their natural beauty should be exalted.
