About Sarah Fox

Sarah Fox is an English soprano, best known for her operatic performances. Raised in Yorkshire, she attended the Giggleswick School, followed by studies at Royal Holloway College, University of London, where she earned her bachelor of music in 1995. She continued her studies at the Royal College of Music in London. Among the awards she has received are the Kathleen Ferrier Award, the John Christie Award, and an honorary fellowship from Royal Holloway. In 2005 she made her debut as Woglinde in Das Rheingold at the Royal Opera Covent Garden. She has since performed the roles of Karolka in Jenufa, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Micaela in Carmen, Marzelline in Fidelio, Ilia in Idomeneo, Mimi in La bohème, and many others. Her concert performances with the BBC, the Bach Choir, and the Choir of King's College, Cambridge, are notable, and she has sung with many major orchestras, including the Academy of Ancient Music, the Berlin Philharmonic, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra, and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. In addition to operatic roles and classical vocal repertoire, which includes her specialty in French mélodies, Fox has performed songs from musical theater with the John Wilson Orchestra, and in 2015 she released an album of Cole Porter songs with James Burton on the Signum Classics label. ~ Blair Sanderson
