I learned a lot from this book
It addresses a lot of things I was personally doing wrong. Most importantly, no explaining and no showing emotion. These two things are also try with adults who you have to manage. It’s not a negotiation. I also liked, Never chase a martyr when a kid says something like, “I’m never coming out of my room!” Remember no talking. Also, the potty training section was an eye opener for me. Instead of coaching them at the beginning. Let them see you go. And be patient. Requiring an apology is a punishment. It’s not a learning experience. Make sure you are not asking them to tell a lie. If your kid gets in trouble at school, don’t double punish them, unless of course, it is something really bad. Poor grades are not really misbehavior. Instead use rewards when they do good. All taken with a grain of salt. Good book.
