A Court of Thorns and Roses is a completely original retelling of Beauty and the Beast by New York Times bestselling author Sarah J. Maas with, of course, a strong female lead, faeries, and an amazingly inventive world.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
The best romantic fantasy series aren’t just about heroes and villains—they’re about actions and consequences. The first story in Sarah J. Maas’ sexy Court of Thorns and Roses series begins with 19-year-old Feyre Archeron hunting in the woods one frigid winter day when she kills what she thinks is a wolf, but turns out to be a faerie. Exiled to the faerie world as punishment, Feyre is surprised to discover that her new home is full of dark beauty—especially if you count Tamlin, the High Lord. Maas blends themes from classic tales like “Beauty and the Beast” into a story of steamy romance and high-stakes drama. Guided through the gorgeous, mysterious world by Jennifer Ikeda’s deeply smooth narration, we fell in love with the sensual heroine, and were enraptured by her adventures. As soon as we wolfed this fantastical adventure down, we were ready to hear the sequel.
Monotonous reading voice!
I enjoyed the book a lot but could not stomach the voice over- so monotonous. It sounded like a whining, “pour- me”-teenager talking in the “Wathever- eye-roll”- voice.
So…I just read it myself :)
A fantasy world equal to Tolkien, Martin and Rowling
A descriptive world and deep characters, Mass has created a fantasy world perfect for those looking for a bit of escapism. A slow burn in the beginning but an intense ending that will make you crave the next book to see how Lucien, Feyre, and Tamlin’s futures unfold.
hands down one of the best novels i’ve ever read
