The outcast daughter of one of the most powerful Bedouin sheikhs in Arabia, Maviah is called on to protect the very people who rejected her. When their enemies launch a sudden attack with devastating consequences, Maviah escapes with the help of two of her father's warriors--Saba who speaks more with is sword than his voice and Judah, a Jew who comes from a tribe that can read the stars. Knock-A-No ,

Glad I Tried it Out

I was hesitant to try this book based on the one star review. But I had some really long drives ahead of me and I really enjoy Ted Dekker’s writing style.

Perhaps personal preference; but the reasons for the one star review, the descriptions and use of langue, were actually what I loved about this book.

I found it so different than Dekker’s pervious novels. Due to the setting and the story, there was room for opulent language and detail. I found this a fun difference in his staccato writing style. Besides that, the cultural and historic details have been well researched and gives context to the time period writings.

Probably one of my favorites by Dekker - don’t miss out on the author’s note.

Jon Daigle ,

Religious Fiction, but…

This is really a historical romance novel where Jesus makes some brief cameo appearances.
