A Day for Soup and Other Morsels: Stories of History, Heritage, Hope, and Home (Unabridged‪)‬

Here are three celebrations of family across the generations, from Emmy Award-winner, columnist, and NPR commentator Janus Adams.

Based on an article first published in Essence magazine, "Going Home" is a classic tale of immigrants in the promised land. Adams retraces her childhood roots in the civil rights movement in the U.S. back to the dreams of her great-grandparents in their ancestral Caribbean home.

"Mom's Beautiful Day" explores the relationship between caregivers and their loved ones with Dementia; what began in her newspaper column as the story of a day's outing with her mother has gone on to inspire caregivers everywhere.

In "A Day for Soup", a bad cold and a hearty lunch whisk Adams and her elders off to adventure in this expedition from family lore to Cajun Country and the meaning of soup.
