Good

I love Sarah M’s books. This book gave me mixed feelings. The first half of the book, Michael was callous and cruel toward Penelope. That drove me crazy and there were more times than not that I wanted to quit reading, but curiosity overtook me. I gave the book four stars because it gradually got better - especially when Penelope grew a backbone and stuck up for herself. There was some humor and lots of steam. Overall it was a good book.

Possibility unfulfilled 🙄

Full Disclosure I read the second book in the series first. I may have fallen too in love with Cross. This book had longing and desire but it seemed to go on too long and not really making much sense. After they consummated their marriage, the struggle should have been over and the obstacles should have been external not internal. I kept saying you grew up together and were “friends”. Once you gave into passion then let’s move on! The internal turmoil went on too long and almost made me disinterested. The passion when demonstrated was very good. Overall still pretty good but it could have been so much better.
