The instant #1 bestseller.
“This taut and terrifying book is among the most closely observed accounts of Donald J. Trump’s shambolic tenure in office to date."
- Dwight Garner, The New York Times
Washington Post national investigative reporter Carol Leonnig and White House bureau chief Philip Rucker, both Pulitzer Prize winners, provide the definitive insider narrative of Donald Trump’s presidency
“I alone can fix it.” So proclaimed Donald J. Trump on July 21, 2016, accepting the Republican presidential nomination and promising to restore what he described as a fallen nation. Yet as he undertook the actual work of the commander in chief, it became nearly impossible to see beyond the daily chaos of scandal, investigation, and constant bluster. In fact, there were patterns to his behavior and that of his associates. The universal value of the Trump administration was loyalty—not to the country, but to the president himself—and Trump’s North Star was always the perpetuation of his own power.
With deep and unmatched sources throughout Washington, D.C., Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker reveal the forty-fifth president up close. Here, for the first time, certain officials who felt honor-bound not to divulge what they witnessed in positions of trust tell the truth for the benefit of history.
A peerless and gripping narrative, A Very Stable Genius not only reveals President Trump at his most unvarnished but shows how he tested the strength of America’s democracy and its common heart as a nation.
My title describes my feelings the more I learn about Trump and the way he represents us. I think about all the power he has governed only by his child-like brain.
It’s like a Twilight Zone episode.
I remember many of the things that this book reports on as they were happening. But when you get those stories spread out over the course of three years their importance doesn’t seem to ring as strong as when you hear it step by step all at once. Of course, I already knew Trump had some emotional or mental issues but reliving the stories again one after the other… All I can say is, wow.
Like most Americans, I can get caught up in my own life, my job, my hobbies, my relationships, and not spend enough time following the news of the day. Books like this are vital for bringing people up to speed with what has been happening. I never felt at any point that an agenda was being pushed. Simply superb reporting in fine detail.
The writing is very good and you’ll never get bored. I think this is an important book to keep for the history of it all. Written by two Pulitzer Prize winners, it’s exactly what you would expect.
Can’t wait for the movie
I just hope they pick the best cast for Chris Christy, favorite character in this world. A very easy read , I couldn’t stop till the end ,and I wanted more. Hard to believe this is real life . If you haven’t read any trump book , don’t bother just read this one . It’s all here . Also ,hopefully the writers can just complete this story till election.
A must listen!!!
I wish all Trump supporters would listen to this amazing book to see the level of corruption and incompetence in the Trump administration. I had forgotten some of the details of the horror stories from the beginning of the presidency like Comey and Flynn and Sessions - the authors do a great job recounting these events and adding fascinating new details. Share with everyone you know.
