Publisher Description

Can “love at first sight” survive both family and the secrets of a dark past? Three books. Several hours of smart, sexy lesbian romance.

Lizzie knows how to keep a secret. The graduate student’s former lesbian lover is blackmailing her, and not even those closest to Lizzie know the full story of their abusive relationship. And when Sarah, the beautiful woman of her dreams, crosses her path, Lizzie isn’t anywhere close to revealing her skeletons.

Sarah knows Lizzie isn’t telling her everything. But when she falls hard for the socially awkward Lizzie, Sarah isn’t sure if the growing relationship is worth the mess of lies.

The harder Lizzie tries to keep Sarah from the truth, the more endearingly clueless she becomes. Can Lizzie keep her secrets and her new love at the same time, or will she lose both in one fell swoop?

A Woman Lost Box Series includes the first three novels in a series of contemporary lesbian romances. If you like quirky characters, smart fiction, and a dash of humor, then you’ll love T. B. Markinson’s sexy series.

Mixed Feelings

Book 0 in this series is perplexingly singular in it’s tone and quality. It was actually published after Books 1 and 2, but provides chronologically earlier storyline about Lizzie, and her relationship with Sara. Unlike the following books, 0 has no trace of humor. I found the quality of its writing, and narration of poorer quality, and had to force my way through it. It feels like the author’s unwilling response to her readers’ demands for more background. I found Books 1 and 2 better written, and more enjoyable to listen to. At the same time I was a bit startled by the change in tone with the addition of humor. The narration was much better, although this may have simply been due to the quality of the writing. There is only one element that evolves through Books 1 & 2 that I’m left uncomfortable with - Lizzie, a victim of childhood and relationship abuse, becomes the target of the humor in Book 2. The personality traits that are Lizzie’s baggage from her abused childhood are continually challenged by her lover/wife, Sara, and friends, chiefly Maddie. They have learned not to tolerate the destructiveness of Lizzie’s behavior. While I found it a bit discomfiting, they are actually saving Lizzie from her own self-defeating behavior.
