Mary Alice and Grandma Dowdel return for more astonishing, laugh-out-loud adventures when fifteen-year-old Mary Alice moves in with her spicy grandmother for the year. Her extended visit is filled with moonlit schemes, romances both foiled and founded, and a whole parade of fools made to suffer in unusual (and always hilarious) ways.
A Year Down Yonder
Super book! We listen to this at least once a year! This book is GREAT! Touching and very funny and Lois Smith, the narrator, is superb!
This book is awesome, it's so funny and very historically correct.
Wonderful story, expertly read
Just a wonderful, depression-era story, with fantastic narration. My 9-year-old loves this story, but more unexpectedly, my wife and I do as well. I would love to hear that Richard Peck produced a third book in the series (this is the second, the first being A Long Way from Chicago.) But alas, I think the story has been told about as far as it can be. Just a great book, the real historical information being conveyed just adds that much more.
