this is great period!

I don't know how I can expound any better on the aforementioned statement but if you want to aquire a standard british accent for role playing, acting whatever, this is an indispensible tool. I use it personally as I find it helps with my stuttering problem...for whatever reason. You will not be disappointed!

Needs structure

I was hoping to use this as a relaxing way to pass the time while driving, but that is simply impossible. Most of the program consists of the author rattling off various lines of dialog with different accents with no pauses or repetition. There's no way that I can pause and rewind to practice repeating phrases while driving.

As raw material for an accent training program, this could be great. If this material were simply broken down into repeated chunks so that the listener has time to repeat each part, it would be improved dramatically. If commentary and coaching were provided to give the listener an idea of what to listen for in each clip, we'd have some real value here.

Of course, if the file weren't DRM'd, I could pull it into a sound editor and turn it into a few hours of usable audio. But as it is, it's basically useless.

Not as Helpful as I

Usually in a dialect training audio-course (even a short one), they pause to allow you to repeat the words they've just spoken. In the case of this training, there's no chance for you to hear the dialect and then mimic it, without pausing really quickly. The other issue I had with this audiobook was that it is EXTREMELY male-focused. Almost all of the characters he expounds on are male; the one female character he does is in falsetto and is purposed to help a male actor playing a female role. Again, in a good audio dialect training courses, they always have both a male and female voice going through the texts.
