Publisher Description

This special edition brings together both of Lewis Carroll’s marvelous tales set in the whimsical world beyond the looking glass and down the rabbit hole. Caroll’s first novel, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, finds Alice stuck in Wonderland, surrounded by curious creatures and with no idea of how to return home. With questionable aid from the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter and the Queen of Hearts, Alice eventually finds her way back home. But the enigmatic Alice can’t stay away for long, and she finds herself back in Wonderland in the sequel, Through the Looking-Glass.

Most adaptations of Lewis Carroll’s beloved books have combined the stories featured in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, including the 1951 animated Disney film Alice in Wonderland. More recently, director Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland (2010), starring Mia Wasikowska and Johnny Depp, used Wonderland lore to create an entirely new storyline about Alice and many of the other characters made famous by Carroll’s novels.

Luv old music ,

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

Chistopher Plummer does a great audio read. He make the story enjoyable. Great story too.

Good performance, bad recording

A really good performance of both stories. Christopher Plummer does the voices and sound effects like the pro he is. It was like a quirky grandfather reading to you. However...at some points he tends to whisper or mumble and I could barely hear. I'd turn it up so loud that the sound would get distorted, and could only understand about half of what he was saying. I found myself constantly adjusting the volume, which got so irritating I almost gave up on the book.

Could not be more pleased

I have to say, I was more than satisfied by this book - I was amazed. It is not a dry reading of Lewis Carroll, which I expected, but instead a *fantastic* performance by Christopher Plummer, complete with voices and accents and an actor's grasp of timing and pacing. I had hoped to find a way to expose my 9-year-old to more classic literature - what we got was a gift that we are enjoying together. There *are* some audio issues - some places where Plummer drops almost into inaudability - but they are not pervasive. I am delighted by the value of this purchase and would recommend it HIGHLY to others.
