ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR: PopSugar
You can’t ever know for sure what happens behind closed doors.
Everyone from Wakarusa, Indiana, remembers the infamous case of January Jacobs, who was discovered in a ditch hours after her family awoke to find her gone. Margot Davies was six at the time, the same age as January—and they were next-door neighbors. In the twenty years since, Margot has grown up, moved away, and become a big-city journalist. But she’s always been haunted by the feeling that it could’ve been her. And the worst part is, January’s killer has never been brought to justice.
When Margot returns home to help care for her uncle after he is diagnosed with early-onset dementia, she feels like she’s walked into a time capsule. Wakarusa is exactly how she remembers—genial, stifled, secretive. Then news breaks about five-year-old Natalie Clark from the next town over, who’s gone missing under circumstances eerily similar to January’s. With all the old feelings rushing back, Margot vows to find Natalie and to solve January’s murder once and for all.
But the police, Natalie’s family, the townspeople—they all seem to be hiding something. And the deeper Margot digs into Natalie’s disappearance, the more resistance she encounters, and the colder January’s case feels. Could January’s killer still be out there? Is it the same person who took Natalie? And what will it cost to finally discover what truly happened that night twenty years ago?
Twisty, chilling, and intense, All Good People Here is a searing tale that asks: What are your neighbors capable of when they think no one is watching?
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
A disturbing crime hits very close to home in this chilling debut from Crime Junkie podcast host Ashley Flowers. Margot’s journalism career is on the line. Her boss has officially ordered her to drop her obsession with a childhood friend’s murder, but that’s harder than it sounds, since Margot believes the killer has struck again. Flowers pits her troubled heroine—who has her hands full caring for her beloved uncle—against a town full of skeptics, a ticking clock, and a huge pile of secrets. The narration from Brittany Pressley and Karissa Vacker nails the story’s icy foreboding, and Crime Junkie listeners will be delighted to hear Flowers herself read the epilogue. All Good People Here is a multilayered whodunit packed with twists. Just when you think you may have it all figured out, well…you probably don’t.

Great, but ending leaves you hanging
I usually save my audiobook time for walking the dog and working out. However, towards the middle I became very invested in the story and would even just lay in bed at night listening to it. The only reason I knocked it down a star is because I’m not a fan of leaving a story with loose threads that have you guessing or imagining.
Terrible and Sloppy Ending
The story had so much potential! But so many characters are left with no ending. What about Pete? What about Luke? What about Jody? Ahh what about Margo?!!?? Now, don’t get me wrong I love a good cliffhanger ending, where the reader is left to decide what happens. But this didn’t feel like that. It just felt sloppy and rushed. Disappointed.
Stop it, Ashley Flowers!
I was NOT expecting this from Ashley Flowers! I’m a crime junkie and I know this woman is so in-tune with crime, mysteries, and the like but I did not see the writing coming. While some plot points I predicted earlier on, I loved this book. I went through the emotions and I was IN TEARS at the end. I listened on audiobook and I would not hesitate to sit down with a copy and read it again. It haunts me. I think about it every time I read another book and I hope she continues to make time for writing!
