Excellent! Well fleshed out, rich storyline and characters. Nice intrigue. Loved this one! Also loved her newest - A State of Wonder. Cannot recommend Ann Patchett enough. She is a beautiful writer. The word lyrical is often used to describe her writing and I completely agree.
Don't understand the hype
I like the Patron Saint of Liars, Patchett's first book. This book is overrated. The story of a hostage situation of many people for months is unbelievable. The "terrorists" are waiting for the country's president to give himself to them in exchange for the hostages (200 at first, 50something later). It is boring and unrealistic. Don't care about the characters and find their actions questionable.
