Publisher Description
With the Dark Angels spread across a hundred systems, primarch Lion El'Jonson stands as Lord Protector of Ultramar - though his true motives are known to few indeed, and old rivalries on the home world threaten to tear the Legion in half.
But when word comes of the Night Lords' attack on Sotha, the Lion's brutal actions bring Imperium Secundus once again to the brink of civil war. Not even the most fearsome warriors of the Dreadwing, nor any arcane secret of the Order, can guarantee victory if he sets himself against his loyal brothers.

Really Good Read!!! Great Job Gav!!!!
I really enjoyed this book for several reasons. Firstly, this book works as a really good narrative about Luther and caliban, it shows his torn nature and his strengths and weaknesses as a leader,
Secondly this book is a great novel about the primarchs, sangunius, the Lion, Guiliman and Conrad, not shying away from showing them making them front and center most of the narrative.
Thirdly the confrontation with Conrad and the lion is strait up fantastic! With the ending highly satisfying!!! The only caveat is that I would recommend reading at least the unremembered empire, and the descent of angels book if you want to know what’s going on.
meh... ... ...
Gav Thorpe’s strengths lie in much of the detail he uses to build the 40K universe around his readers... his weakness is character dialogue especially when used to move the story forward... part of the problem is multiple authors writing on the same characters and changing their personalities 180 degrees inexplicably between stories; so if you haven’t read Descent of Angels, Fallen Angels, & The Unremembered Empire then you might enjoy this story more than I did.
