Publisher Description
Naasir is the most feral of the powerful group of vampires and angels known as the Seven, his loyalty pledged to the Archangel Raphael. When rumors surface of a plot to murder the former Archangel of Persia, now lost in the Sleep of the Ancients, Naasir is dispatched to find him. For only he possesses the tracking skills required—those more common to predatory animals than to man.
Enlisted to accompany Naasir, Andromeda, a young angelic scholar with dangerous secrets, is fascinated by his nature—at once playful and brilliant, sensual and brutal. As they race to find the sleeping archangel before it's too late, Naasir will force her to question all she knows . . . and tempt her to walk into the magnificent, feral darkness of his world. But first they must survive an enemy vicious enough to shatter the greatest taboo of the angelic race and plunge the world into a screaming nightmare.

Probably my favorite book in the series
I just finished listening to this book for the fourth time. I don’t know if it’s simply Naasir I love so much or the way he is narrated that adds to it but I love him as a character.
I was not a fan of the direction Singh decided to go with Aedon and Illium’s relationship and haven’t been able to make it through either of their books. I just wish they would have stayed best friends. You rarely see such close friendships in books where it doesn’t turn romantic and it was so refreshing to have that and it felt unnecessary and forced to me when they became a couple. It just felt like it was done because of pressure from fans and that isn’t a good reason.
I digress, this review isn’t about how much I dislike the direction their relationship took, it’s about how much I love this one. I really enjoy the peak we get inside Naasir’s head. I really liked seeing his view of the world in more detail. He is so open and honest. It was nice finally getting to find out exactly what he is and the backstory behind that. It makes me really happy he was able to find not only love, but someone so well suited to him.
While the story is primarily about that relationship we also have the ongoing story in the background regarding the tension in the world. I always like hearing about Elena and I love Illium and wish he was in this book more. I really do love the friendship he has with Aedon and how in this story Illium continues to bring him out of his shell. It was also nice seeing Aedon continue to get closer with Elena.
All in all this is a must read in the series! 5⭐️
