Ariel (Unabridged‪)‬

I read Ariel when it was first published back when I was in high school. Now granted, it's been quite a while since then but it was always a favorite of mine. All of the action, sword fighting and adventure made it a really fun book for me back then. I grew up reading mostly science fiction, and this wasn't too far of a stretch from the sci fi books I loved. When I read Cory Doctorow's review on Boing Boing that they were releasing it as an audiobook, I downloaded it and gave it a listen during a recent business trip. It was great going back and giving a listen to one of my adolescent favorites (nothing beats nostalgia), and it was fun. I have a nephew who just started high school who loves to read, and I really think he could get into Ariel, so I'm going to give it to him for a listen. This definitely isn't a kids book, but if you know anyone in their teens or ever read this one yourself then the audiobook is definitely worth the download.

This audio book crushes any preconceptions of fantasy novels and unicorns being for teenage girls. The story is exciting and original, while the reader makes it believable. I can't wait to listen to the sequel Elegy Beach!
