A RUSA Award-winning novel!
The first book in a new culinary cozy series full of sharp humor and delectable dishes—one that might just be killer....
When Lila Macapagal moves back home to recover from a horrible breakup, her life seems to be following all the typical rom-com tropes. She's tasked with saving her Tita Rosie's failing restaurant, and she has to deal with a group of matchmaking aunties who shower her with love and judgment. But when a notoriously nasty food critic (who happens to be her ex-boyfriend) drops dead moments after a confrontation with Lila, her life quickly swerves from a Nora Ephron romp to an Agatha Christie case.
With the cops treating her like she's the one and only suspect, and the shady landlord looking to finally kick the Macapagal family out and resell the storefront, Lila's left with no choice but to conduct her own investigation. Armed with the nosy auntie network, her barista best bud, and her trusted Dachshund, Longanisa, Lila takes on this tasty, twisted case and soon finds her own neck on the chopping block…

Amazing!!!
This book captures the essence of Filipino-American life. The vivid descriptions of the language, traditions and food is intriguing. I warn you that reading this book will make you hungry over Filipino food. The book embraces the culture and has a murder mystery layer. It’s a lighthearted story for the foodies. I highly recommend.
Wow! So much fun and so much good food
This is my very first audio book and I’m truly blown away! The narrator pulled me right into the story and breathed life into all the characters. Each character had a distinct voice and rhythm which was incredible, and the book itself is well written and takes you on a fun ride. It’s is half mystery, half make-you-really-hungry. As a foodie, I loved all the emphasis on coffee and food and every time I listened, I couldn’t help but get excited for my next meal. Also, the book even includes recipes for all the delicious Filipino food in the story which was awesome. I enjoyed the reader so much I even listened through all the recipes! I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes cozy mysteries, and I hope to hear more from the narrator Danice Cabanela!
