A bit hard to follow in places. Not sure what one has to do with another. Interesting and captivating all the same.
If possible, I think I would actually have given this novel a rating of 4.5 stars. There isn't much I can say about it without giving too much away and I can't stand spolers. When I pay this much money for an audiobook, it is because A) I have respect and/or love for the author and/or series, B) the length of the book justifies the price and C) I will listen to it more than once. I found that all of those apply with this book. I have read nearly everything Dean Koontz has ever written. The only negative thing I can really say about this book is regarding the length. I love a good, long book, but I think it could have been a bit shorter and had the same impact. I thought there were parts that really weren't necessary for the story, but that's only my opinion. I had read other reviews saying there were too many questions left unanswered. I disagree. There were a few unanswered questions, but I think that just leaves the door open for a possible sequel or the author wanted you to answer the questions yourself. I recommend it.
As the plot unfolds, the reader is gripped and mesmerized by the countless twists and turns Dean Kootz weaves in a story masterfully told, as only Kootz can. The reader is reminded of the resilience of the human spirit to overcome all odds, even in the face of certain death and despair. This surprising gem kept me breathless to the very end.
