Fantastic Dramatization
Not much more can be said that “Fantastic Dramatization” other than “it’s a great abridged version of At the Mountains of Madness” and “they went above and beyond by adding the additional touch of making the first part sound like a broadcast from the 1920s-1930s”.
Listen to it over and over
I own all the HPLHS stuff, and I listen to it over and over. Great production top to bottom, great voice acting and just overall great fun. Definitely worth the price, and more.
Very disappointed.
The only negative I have is that the audio is so tedious to listen to. I appreciate the commitment to authenticity by trying to recreate the old style radio plays, but the format in which it’s done here makes this a chore to listen to. Basically, they put distortion, radio noises and squelches over the explorers dialogue to simulate a radio transmission but the noises make the audio painful to listen to after awhile. PLEASE don’t let this dissuade you from other episodes produced by the HPLHS. They have many other episodes excellently crafted but the creative decisions made here, lead to utter disappointment.
