APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Nothing is as it seems in this atmospheric thriller from Alice Feeney. It’s been a year since the disappearance of writer Grady Green’s wife, and he’s since fallen victim to depression, destitution, and…writer’s block. So when his agent offers him the chance to stay at a writing lodge on a remote Scottish island, he goes for it. But the small, isolated island offers more than he expected, like breathtaking scenery, a community of eccentric villagers—and maybe answers about the mystery of his lost wife. Alice Feeney once again proves why she is called the Queen of Twists. We were floored by her complex plot involving a missing journalist, a hidden manuscript, and a desperate author who’s left questioning his sanity. Actors Richard Armitage and Tuppence Middleton do a fantastic job with the dual narration, and the subtle use of ambient sounds like crashing waves, tolling bells, and realistic-sounding telephone conversations pulled us even deeper into the tension.

Couldn’t stop listening
Wow, this audiobook from Alice Feeney was fantastic. What I absolutely love about audiobooks is that they grab you in the first few minutes and beautifully ugly did just this the ending was nothing that I would’ve expected and I hope that there is a sequel because it seems like the story has not ended yet. I also loved the characters, her writing and everything from start to finish. I highly recommend reading or listening to this book. A great summer beach read for sure!
Beautiful Ugly
Ugh. I wish books came with a rating system so I could skip the ones with gratuitous sex scenes.
Didn’t like a single character in this book
Never read a book where there wasn’t at least one character I liked. The first 2/3 of the book were intriguing but the ending left me annoyed and disappointed. It did leave me contemplating though and I guess that’s something.
