Publisher Description

Jane Yellowrock is a shape-shifting skinwalker who always takes care of her own - no matter the cost....

When Evan Trueblood blows into town looking for his wife, Molly, he’s convinced that she came to see her best friend, Jane. But it seems like the witch made it to New Orleans and then disappeared without a trace.

Jane is ready to do whatever it takes to find her friend. Her desperate search leads her deep into a web of black magic and betrayal and into the dark history between vampires and witches. But the closer she draws to Molly, the closer she draws to a new enemy - one who is stranger and more powerful than any she has ever faced.

Best In Series So Far

Black Arts really is the best book of the series so far. Jane Yellowrock, rogue vamp hunter, native american shape shifter begins her series as a loner by necessity. Throughout the series we see Jane's confrontation with life's inevitable situations, ethical choices that we all wander into. Black Arts is a synthesis of who Jane once was and what she is becoming, bringing an entire cast of three dimensional characters ( a newly created security team, witch friends, a cast of law enforcement officers with personality and more!) with her in an wonderfully entertaining way.

The book starts with a bang as Jane's best friend's husband comes calling to demand where his wife is, and Jane doesn't know. Soon after, she's called to a powerful vamp's "house of ladies" and directed to find where two of the "girls" went off to on their own. Leaving that appointment, Jane is soon summoned for a totally unheard of sparring match with a master vampire she arranges security for, then is told she needs to spearhead the security arrangements for the master vampire's "gathering". In among all these swirling priorities, the author has artfully woven Jane's encounter with returning memories which point to her purpose and with emotionally crushing disappointment in her personal life. This vamp hunter names her weapons and what she uses them for, so the author has done her research.

The book is every bit as exciting as watching a really good action movie, (the Thor movie quote "but Thor's out there waving his hammer around and everything" comes to mind). I heartily recommend this book, whether you have read the prior ones or not. If you haven't, after this book, you will likely go back to read them.
