Publisher Description

There’s only one thing to do when you wake up married to your brand-new boss, whom you hate but can’t resist: You blame the champagne.

I blame the bubbles for my wild night with a masked stranger. Who cares if it's nothing this good girl would normally do - with a man who turns out to be my horrible boss? Who cares that I’m promised to someone else? I blame the alcohol for agreeing to marry him. As long as my new husband keeps his mouth shut, I can survive five years of our little arrangement. It's too late for anything else.

But our impromptu wedding leads to so much more than I bargained for. His dirty promises warm me. His kisses make me lightheaded. His respect slips past my best defenses. The hate turns to friendship and makes me dream of more. He’s like the most dangerous kind of champagne. That’s why I blame him for making me fall in love with him.

But when I find out our marriage was nothing more than revenge, what’s to blame for my broken heart?

Enthralling, Steamy & Heartfelt! Fantastic Story & Listen🎧

I loved this book, the story captured my attention right from the start and held it for the entire book. Fiona Cole is a gifted author with a wonderful writing style, her characters and storylines are easy to relate to and connect with. She makes it easy to fall for her characters and feel for them too. Verana “Vera” Mariano, graduated college with honors, she wants to start a career in shipping, her family business but her father would not allow hat to happen. His old school way of thinking is the business needs to be run by a man and he will arrange a marriage for her that will benefit the business. Vera knew this but she plans to take advantage of her freedom before being married off, she applies for jobs in smaller less known companies who are up and coming. Nicholas “Nico” Rush’s Grandfather almost lost his company but Nico has been working hard to save it, he is also working hard to get back at the person he blames for his Grandfather’s hardships. The company is doing well and he needs add more employees to keep it going in the right direction. Vera was one of those applicants but since Nico has had some bad luck with woman applying for the job for the wrong reason he is suspicious of her. I admired Vera for standing up to him and holding her own, I was glad she took the job, Nico’s assistant Ryan knew she’d be an asset to the team. But her time runs out when her father tells her she will be engaged to Camden Conti sooner than she thought. She was ready to be the dutiful daughter but but Camden gives her the creeps. When Nico finds out what her dilemma is and that she is a Mariano he offers her a solution, marry him instead, she is not a fan of Nico but his offer is much more tolerable than her fathers. She has no idea that he has ulterior motives or that she is helping him to make his goal a reality. I loved how everything played out in this book, it is an enemies to lovers, marriage of convenience romance, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, angst, some humor, twists and turns, heartfelt emotions and some hot romance. Vera’s friends were awesome, Raelynn was a riot and Nova was the more level headed one, I am looking forward to seeing more of these great characters. Fiona Cole, thank you for this enjoyable and entertaining story and the emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Vanessa Edwin and Lance Greenfield were the perfect cast to bring these characters and their story to life. They are talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They have a complete understanding of the roles they portray, taking each role and making it their own, sounding believable and just as I picture the character to sound. Vanessa Edwin played the perfect Vera, brought out all her strengths and vulnerabilities, Lance Greenfield did the same for Nico. Both were awesome with the secondary characters as well. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters emotions and projected them into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen🎧
