Loved this
As someone who has mostly recovered from my own brain injuries, this story was intimately understood and deeply felt. It was more of a love story than other McFadden books I’ve read, but it excellently trekked through real life trauma and never completely lost track of the violent crime/mystery. I could hardly stop listening to this one.
Great book!
One of the best books I’ve read in a long time.
Slow and a Bit Predictable
While the story is well written (c’mon it’s Freida after all), it didn’t wow me like LITERALLY every other book she’s written. This one was predictable and very slow paced. Things didn’t begin to get interesting until chapter 50 or so. I kept waiting for the twist. There was one, but it was anti climactic as the villain was exactly who I expected. Sorry Freida, this one was a bit of a miss for me. The Teacher, Never Lie, The Ex, One by One, Do Not Disturb and my all time favorites The Housemaid and The Housemaid’s Secret were SERIOUS hitters!
