Publisher Description

Publishers Weekly bestseller · A joyful and accessible homeschool guide to making learning a part of everyday life

Parents who are deeply invested in their children's education can be hard on themselves and their kids. When exhausted parents are living the day-to-day grind, it can seem impossible to muster enough energy to make learning fun or interesting. How do parents nurture a love of learning amid childhood chaos, parental self-doubt, the flu, and state academic standards?

In this book, Julie Bogart distills decades of experience--homeschooling her five now grown children, developing curricula, and training homeschooling families around the world--to show parents how to make education an exciting, even enchanting, experience for their kids, whether they're in elementary or high school.

Enchantment is about ease, not striving. Bogart shows parents how to make room for surprise, mystery, risk, and adventure in their family's routine, so they can create an environment that naturally moves learning forward. If a child wants to pick up a new hobby or explore a subject area that the parent knows little about, it's easy to simply say "no" to end the discussion and the parental discomfort, while dousing their child's curious spark. Bogart gently invites parents to model brave learning for their kids so they, too, can approach life with curiosity, joy, and the courage to take learning risks.

So much information!

I have really enjoyed Julie’s book. As someone tipping her toe in the homeschool life, Julie’s book is helping me shift perspectives and expectations on what homeschool can look like. Listening to this book as an audiobook has been overwhelming though. She reads so many lists that a PDF accompaniment to this book would be helpful. I also feel like this book could have been 2 books because there is SO much information in it. I know I’m not absorbing all that I could. If you want to read this book, I suggest getting a paper copy that you can easily reference later.

A Must Read for Homeschoolers!

Julie is a wealth of information! A caring mom and grandma, she brings fun, insight, & love back to homeschool!

So many of us bring our brick & mortar bias and “not knowing” to our homeschool journey, which makes it way more difficult than it needs to be. Julie helps clear the path for us to proceed with confidence via stories, tips, & easy to understand and follow directions.

If you’re interested in homeschool, new to it, have been doing it for a while...or you’re interested in education reform in general...then this book is for you! You’re sure to gain fresh perspective. Absolutely 5 stars from this homeschool mama with 10+ years experience!
