Broken Dreams
Beyond Series, Book 2
By: Andrea Smith
Narrated by: David Black, Amanda Stribling

Andrea Smith pens another amazing novel in her “Beyond” series and I loved every minute of it. She is a gifted author with a brilliant and creative mind, she cleverly combines several genres into this fascinating story, including fantasy, paranormal, suspense, crime drama and a great romance. It is the perfect combination of genres and perfect for lovers of anyone of them. We learned in the first book that Parrish Locke has the ability to speak to the spirits of the dead who are in limbo for one reason or another. Parrish’s deceased mother is no longer in limbo but she promised to keep. In this book her Mom asks her to help another who is stuck in limbo, Cece Adams in Evanston, Wyoming, a teenager who died in a car accident. Parrish visits her at the cemetery and soon finds herself back in time, in the 1970’s living Cece’s life as a girl in H.S breaking up with Eric, who was not just her boyfriend but her best friend, they grew up right next to each other. Cece’s Mom pushed for her to socialize with the better crowd which she did and she started dating Marshall, but there was something about Marshall that frightened her and they wound up breaking up. She thought Eric moved on already, but turns out he broke it off with the girl he was dating, Angie, Marshall’s ex. Parrish learns a lot from her time spent as Cece, she tells her father who calls in a favor to have the FBI look into it. Hello Agent Mathews and Marco Trevani Jr., who’s father we met in the first book and Taz is from the G-man series. Marco was a bit skeptical at first but when evidence shows proof he believes and they soon have a case on their hands. I loved how everything plays out in this book, the story is brilliantly plotted and there is never a dull moment. We have the drama from Cece’s story, the mystery, twists, thrilling suspenseful moments, the heartfelt and emotional moments and the great romance between Cece and Eric. Then there is Parrish’s own personal drama with her boyfriend Ryan, then some more drama with Marco who clearly has a thing for her, well not clear to Parrish. There is some hot romance in this book as well. I loved how the case worked out and how it ends, hopefully with a new beginning. Andrea Smith, thank you for another awesome story, the emotional rollercoaster ride and the exciting journey and trip back to the 70’s there sure was some great music made in those times.

I listened to the Audiobook edition, David Black and Amanda Stribling are talented narrators and voice artists. They bring the characters to life, giving each their own distinct voice and personality. Their portrayal of the characters was perfection, sounding just as I imagined they would sound. They are entertaining storytellers and it was a pleasure to listen to their duet performance. Thank you for another awesome listen🎧
