What a great read
I learned a lot reading this book and I’m only half way through it. Definitely reading again and applying some of the principles I learned from this book. I highly recommend reading this!
Meh and what’s with the voice change??
This book is very MJ Demarco style, of a read. Out time is valuable, go figure, I expected a bit more than that. There are valuable concepts he presents to ruminate over but nothing worth writing down. Dan, either a producer messed up or you need to live by the moto: BE YOURSELF! Voice change in the same book wreaks of insecurity. That’s a million dollar piece of advice worth writing down; you are welcome brother.
Buy Back Your Time said five thousand times
This book was written by a dude who absolutely loves the phrase Buy Back your time. If you want to hear that phrase about five thousand times, this book is for you. Also, every single chapter is his favorite chapter. He has these off the cuff notes in between chapters that go over everything and I think the book would have been better without those. He should have paid someone with a more captivating voice to read the book. Also, he says he lost his long time assistant halfway through writing the book but also talks about how invaluable it is to keep good help so was he not able to pay them enough to keep them? Seemed off. He has the same trope as many other books where the beginning is some kind of “I sell drugs and was in a bad spot” turns “successful business person”. Overall, I think this book mostly applies to people with already good cash flow and not startups strapped for cash
