A man, an axe, and a dog named Fuzzy.... Let the adventure begin!

Trapped in a job he hated and up to his neck in debt, Guy Grieve’s life was going nowhere. But with a stroke of luck, his dream of escaping it all to live in remote Alaska suddenly came true. Miles from the nearest human being and armed with only the most basic equipment, Guy built a log cabin from scratch and began carving a life for himself through fishing, hunting, and diligently avoiding bears.

Packed with adventure, humor, and insight, this is the gripping story of an ordinary man learning the ways of the wild.

Alex Balls Deep ,

Call of The American Wild

This book is enjoyable, plain and simple. Indeed there are many cliches and predictable sections, and if the reader has read other books or seen movies on the subject of living in the wilderness of Alaska, it all seems very familiar. But nonetheless, I recommend this account of a Scotsman going balls deep into a very foreign and exciting world. Maybe the most enjoyable aspect of the book is some of the characters inhabiting the region where he travels. Those are good Americans. I bet those Americans go balls deep in everything out there. Nice and deep. In the woods.

Call of the American Wilderness A Tenderfoot

I purchased this book hoping it would be about a man who was seeking nature in its purest form. Instead it's a man from Britain who thought out the book whines and complains. He has along side him a dog who I am sure if he could have run far away from this city spoiled aloof rookie. In one section the dog shakes and water and mud splatter the author. He then hits the dog. Save your money this book is in a word horrible. I lent it to a friend who could not even get half way thru it . She stated what a the author was so ill prepared and complaining so much it made it impossible to read
. Buy American Wilderness. It will energize you that hard work and nature is rewarding. Again save your money, this author wanted tea and a butler:)

A taste of Alaska

I throughly enjoyed this book. I could feel the frostbite set in, and it gave me a real feel for the Alaskan experience from the perspective of a complete novice as far a bushcraft goes.
A good read
