Publisher Description

In Carrying the Fire, Michael Collins conveys, in a very personal way, the drama, beauty, and humor of the adventure of reaching the moon. He also traces his development from his first flight experiences in the air force, through his days as a test pilot, to his Apollo 11 spacewalk, presenting an evocative picture of the joys of flight as well as a new perspective on time, light, and movement from someone who has seen the fragile Earth from the other side of the moon.

Mark Twain in space.

If Mark Twain went through the space program this is the book we'd get out of it.
Scott Kelly's is also pretty good.

Awesome book.

Very well written book. Lots of humor and behind the scenes information.

Wonderfully written and told...truly enjoyable!

What made this book so enjoyable to me was the fact that Michael Collins wrote it himself. He is simply an outstanding writer who has the gift of illustrating situations that make readers feel as though they are right there with him!
