Who knew sleeping with the enemy could be this fun?
Was the one night stand a good idea?
Well, no. Probably not in retrospect.
In my defense I had just moved back into my grandparent’s house, I’d lost my dream job, and a guy on Tinder had stood me up. It was like life had suddenly stamped ‘LOSER’ on my forehead.
So when the guy behind the bar started giving me THE look…you know, the one that promised I’d be screaming his name into the wee hours of the morning? When that guy also has the perfect amount of scruff on his chiseled chin, biceps bulging out of his t-shirt, and a cocky grin you knew he’d earned in the sack…when he gives you that look, you don’t bother to figure out what your six degrees of separation are. You jump on that horse and ride it!
Pun fully and completely intended. And accurate by the way.
I fully admit to feeling sorry for myself and acting impulsively, but by the time I’d figured out WHO the bartender was, I was already falling for him.
Charmed by the Bartender is a quick fun listen. You also get drama, angst & sexy scenes. This will give you all the feels. I absolutely loved their banter, it seemed to make them bond all the more. This is an enemies to lovers story. I really enjoyed Cole and Whit, while Whit was a bit over dramatic at times, the overall story was fun. I loved Cole.
As for the narration I absolutely enjoyed the story much more due to Joe Arden an Stephanie Rose bringing life to these characters. Joe Arden was the perfect Cole and Stephanie Rose was a great Whit.

This is a super cute and quick romance! I love an enemies to lovers, forced proximity romance! I did feel like the enemies portion of the story didn’t last long enough but the smut definitely made up for it! I enjoyed the main characters and loved our heroines friends.
This was my first read from Piper Rayne and although I did enjoy the story as a whole there were parts where I just didn’t enjoy the writing. I think that it was obvious there was 2 authors on this and I think one of them just isn’t for me. The writing style felt a bit repetitive and cringey at times.
The duel narration on the audio was fantastic. I wish all audiobooks were narrated like this! Joe was perfect as always, Stephanie is a good narrator but sometimes I don’t love her her performance. I think that’s just personal preference though.
Alcohol breaks down any defenses and makes everything seem better than it is until the hangover sets in. When Whitney's one night stand shows up at her friend's engagement party, not only is he the groom's brother but also the guy who stood her up on a blind date which then changed the trajectory of her life. But Cole had no idea. As Whit and Cole helped Talia and Chase plan their wedding, the defenses wear down and the real personalities come out. The enemies turn to friends and lovers. There were moments of humor and comedy, but also heartbreak and sadness. Then there's betrayal that affects Whit and Cole's relationship even though neither one was the responsible party; they were collateral damage. Not to worry though, Piper Rayne delivers the HEA we've come to expect.
I have to say that Joe Arden and Stephanie Rose brought these characters to life with their talented voices. Their voices gave Whit and Cole dimension and personality.
I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this review.
