Victor Mancini, a medical-school dropout, is an antihero for our deranged times. Needing to pay elder care for his mother, Victor has devised an ingenious scam: he pretends to choke on pieces of food while dining in upscale restaurants. He then allows himself to be “saved” by fellow patrons who, feeling responsible for Victor’s life, go on to send checks to support him. When he’s not pulling this stunt, Victor cruises sexual addiction recovery workshops for action, visits his addled mom, and spends his days working at a colonial theme park. His creator, Chuck Palahniuk, is the visionary we need and the satirist we deserve.
Favorite Palahniuk Book
I've read them all, and this was my fav. Funny!
This is ABRIDGED, iTunes is MISTAKEN
This is advertized as unabridged, but upon downloading, what you end up with is the abridged version. I am annoyed that I paid for this; it is false advertising and I WOULDN'T have bought it if it had been correctly advertized. I tried to listen anyway, but major chunks or story and plotline are missing. This has been a very upsetting experience.
I am very upset. Paying for what i thought was an UNABRIDGED audiobook and getting this...Gutted version instead. Hearing Chuck speak is great though, I still enjoy listening to him.
Look apple, you've been really good to me so far, why do something like this? Don't by this book until they resolve this issue.
