Churchill, A Life by Martin Gilbert
Martin Gilbert has written the definitive biography of Sir Winston Churchill. The book recounts the life of England's Greatest war-time Prime Minister. This book is a remarkable condensation of the original eight volumes into 959 pages not counting numerous maps or the very thorough Index. The book comes alive in audio form from a brilliant theatrical reading which gives voice to Winston Churchill at each stage of his life and to his compatriots and antagonists during his years both in and out of the government. I first read this book more than fifteen years ago and I am happily rereading it again.
