Publisher Description
A revised and updated edition of Emily Nagoski’s game-changing New York Times bestseller Come As You Are, featuring new information and research on mindfulness, desire, and pleasure that will radically transform your sex life.
For much of the 20th and 21st centuries, women’s sexuality was an uncharted territory in science, studied far less frequently—and far less seriously—than its male counterpart.
That is, until Emily Nagoski’s Come As You Are, which used groundbreaking science and research to prove that the most important factor in creating and sustaining a sex life filled with confidence and joy is not what the parts are or how they’re organized but how you feel about them. In the years since the book’s initial publication, countless women have learned through Nagoski’s accessible and informative guide that things like stress, mood, trust, and body image are not peripheral factors in a woman’s sexual wellbeing; they are central to it—and that even if you don’t always feel like it, you are already sexually whole by just being yourself. This revised and updated edition continues that mission with new information and advanced research, demystifying and decoding the science of sex so that everyone can create a better sex life and discover more pleasure than you ever thought possible.
Customer Reviews
Great info, but teases too much
Filled with lots of good information in the format of the worlds biggest most annoying tease. Many, many times throughout this book the author will bring up something that I really really want to read about ONLY TO SAY “and I’ll talk about that in a later chapter” it’s maddening I swear anime cliffhangers are less annoying than this. Don’t bring something up and then completely change the subject. Infuriating.
Yes I know I can skip ahead, but I purchased the audio book so I could listen to this while I worked. I can’t be stopping my workflow to skip around constantly!
The information in this book really is good though, a few of the topics hit home so hard that I wanted to cry but that generally isn’t acceptable in an office setting.
Loved Every Minute
This book is a fantastic read, and Dr. Nagoski reading it adds extra magic! Every woman needs to read this book, and every man should at least review the TLDR sections. Happy to have it in my digital and real library.
Life Changing
You might think, like me, that you have this stuff pretty figured out. But you’re wrong. This book shows you how your wrong with gentle, funny wording and teaches you the truth in confident, kind, and generous ways. This book has changed the way I listen and live in the world, beyond sex. The chapter about stress is something I think most people would benefit from, outside of the sex talk. Overall. I love this book. I know I will come back to it again and again. Please give it a go, the science is approachable and you can always skip around (as much as I’d avoid missing any second of this book) utilize it how you see fit, I think that’s what Emily would want anyhow. The audiobook is especially good, and one of the best “read by author” performances I’ve listened to. You can tell she’s a professor. What an amazing experience. Thank you Emily.
