Comeback Hero: Redleg Security, Book 3 (Unabridged‪)‬

Anyone who is familiar with Jackie's books and is an audio fan then you will understand when I saw she is now 3 for 3 with narrator choices! I do not know how much time she spent speculating on who to pick for each book but she nails it every single time.

I freaking LOVE Jacob Morgan, he is one of my top three favorites as in if he narrates it I buy it. There is just something about his voice that I cannot pinpoint but it is what makes him one of my favorites. I have listened to him narrate a handful of characters in the romantic suspense world and he always does a phenomenal job. There was not better choice than him for Shep.

Ava Lucas is new to me but I adored her as Kri. See, Kri isn't your normal FMC, she is ex-military and truly bad-A. A narrator with an edge to her tone was definitely needed for Kri and Ava definitely fills those shoes. Her voice is like a mixture of softness and determination combined together, if that makes sense. When it came time for her to read Shep parts she did exceptional and that is one thing I always look for is how the woman sounds as the male and vice versa.

There still a few books left in this series and I cannot wait to see who she will be getting to narrate those books.

Wow! Another hit out of the ballpark with the audiobook rendition of Comeback Hero, book 3 of the Redleg Security series by Jackie Walker. Jacob Morgan’s interpretation of Shep is gritty, hilarious, and blazing hot. It did take me a chapter or two to understand his choice of vocal inflection for the book’s sentence structure, but once I did, I could hear all of Shep’s emotions.

Ava voices such a perfect Kri that I just wanted to stand in the room and watch this story play out in real life. Ava’s voice is so strong, but she drew a vulnerability out of Kri’s point-of-view that was everything about the way I interpreted Kri when I first read this book, long before the audiobook version was released.

If you love a STEAMY audiobook, I highly recommend all of the Redleg Security series. Listen to them in order. There is a series-wide story arc.

This book picks right up where we left off in Forbidden Hero.
Kri is injured and has a long road of recovery ahead. Shep is by her side every step of the way. Much to her chagrin, he’s ready & willing to give her way more support than she wants to need. She’s lived so long being so independent & self sufficient, then face that she needs help irks her. And though she has a strong stubborn streak, Shep slowly breaks down her walls and gives her exactly what she needs even before she knows she needs it.
I loved watching their coworker relationship & friendship grow into so much more. There was a lot of baggage to unload, but seeing how they slowly learned to rely on & trust each other in a different way was beautiful.
My heart broke so many times for Valarie, and her level of teenage angst & emotions was completely warranted. But the level of care and affection she was able to find in both Kri & Shep was so heartwarming. These were three people thrown together in a new environment all trying to figure out what their new normals would be in the day to day. And being able to lean on each other made a world of difference. Seriously, watching them together was constantly heart melting.
This book is loaded with angst, strength, emotional support, physical support, underhanded romance, swoon worthy moments & suspense. The threat is always there with Redleg Security, & the team always keeps things interesting.

Audiobook Review:
Jacob Morgan was the absolute perfect choice for the hot mess that is Shep. His goofy personality & inner monologue was executed to perfection. Ava Lucas as Kri was spot on. Her portrayal of the many ups and downs of Kri’s rehabilitation took me on the same emotional rollercoaster.
